Adobe's Lens (light field lens)

This is a really crazy thing to understand, it took me a little bit to figure out how it works. The coolest thing about this lens is that it would allow you to 'refocus' an image after it has been taken. Yes, an image that was completely out of focus can be focused exactly where you want it in post-production!!!

Check out a cool video here.

I found a discussion on dpreview about it here.

There is a lot of info with photos at Popular Science's site here.

I will update this post after more digging!

The Web Does Good

I got the March/April issue of Adobe Edge today to find, as always, people doing amazing things in the design world. I was very impressed with all the sites they listed in the article 'The Edge of Flash' Rob Ford saved the most powerful for last.

Site by Achtung in the Netherlands created an amazing site for SIR

SIRE is a foundation for noncommercial campaigns for urgent issues in society. Here, they draw attention to the shocking number of children in the Netherlands who are suffering while no one notices.

Powerful and captivating- it kinda bummed me out but it makes me want to do something.

Max Factor Fashion Show

We had some good fun last night- a star studded fashion show at Social in Hollywood- how could you not?

Some good friends of mine and great photographers, Mario and Paul at Vero Image, took me along to help out a bit with this job. It's kinda weird because I am not too familiar with the correct etiquette, rules, etc. of Hollywood, and I don't want to disrespect anyone or irritate them. It seems that some photographers don't care about anything or anyone- just getting their shots. I would rather miss a good shot than disrespect someone or violate their privacy.

We were shooting for the production company so we had full access to [pretty much] anywhere we wanted- the news photographers all to stay in the specified locations:)

I'm not too familiar with all these famous people so I had to ask people who some of them were, but I did know a few.

I found this at PRNewswire (read the full story here):

It was exciting- when the fashion show started I had to stay in one spot with photographers and video cameras all around me... when the first girl came out if sounded like a playing card in the spokes of my bike when I was a kid- the camera shutters where going crazy. My heart started pounding and I just went for it!

I had some good fun- it was quite an experience. Check out some shots below:

Mini Album

As some of you may know, the biggest photo party on the planet- scratch that, photo convention- is in Vegas this month.

An exhibitor at the trade show, PhotoBook Press, emailed about making a free little sample book for attendees. As I am always on the lookout for cool new products (and 'cause free stuff is always good) I checked out their site to find that they seem to have a very nice product.

I have been wanting to do some different, more creative album layouts so I thought I would try it with this book... here are a few of the spreads:

San Fran!

Last weekend I had a last minute booking for a wedding in San Francisco. It was quite a pain getting there in time for the wedding (we'll leave that story for another post) but once we got there it was great fun!

The couple was great- they had some great locations picked out so we scouted them and chose the best... This shot was in front of a museum in Golden Gate Park (so nice!).
Then we went across the street and shot in this park area with these monstrous looking trees- yes, I acted like a monkey and scurried right up one:
Skate or Die!
At the other end of the park:
And at another park just before the rain came!
All in all it was a great turn-around trip. After shooting and the ceremony we joined them for dinner on the 18th floor of the Fairmont downtown- such cool scenery.
